Following the decision made during our last general meeting in Montreal this past October, the Canadian Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies invites interested members to volunteer and join a new ad hoc committee.
Building on the reflection on the ad hoc comittee on decolonization (2018-2022), the mandate of this ad hoc committee will be to coordinate a consultation with the purpose of identifying the priorities of CSECS regarding equity, diversity, and inclusion. The results of this consultation will be used to develop a draft of the action plan to be presented to the members for approval in the months to come. Participation in this committee represents a unique opportunity to contribute to shaping the goals of our society in this regard and to propose concrete measures and initiatives to achieve them.
We value immensely the expertise and experience of all our members. With the objective of ensuring fair and diverse representation of all researchers working on the eighteenth century, we would like to extend a special invitation to those who wish to bring new voices and perspectives to the table, or who come from communities that have been underrepresented within our society thus far.
It is expected that this committee will meet online several times during the year and will be responsible for drafting the report and recommendations to be presented to all SCEDHS members afterward.
